According to the Morinville Veterinary Clinic, these marks usually appear when dogs lie in grass where flies are active. Though they look alarming, they usually don’t cause any pain and heal by themselves without treatment. These flies tend to be around only for a few weeks each spring and then disappear.
This helpful information reassures pet owners that immediate vet visits may not be necessary, avoiding unnecessary costs. However, experts warn that similar-looking bites can be caused by other insects or allergic reactions, so owners should watch for any changes or unusual behavior in their pets.
