A Husband’s Lies Are Found Out

A Husband’s Lies Are Found Out

Jack, my husband, was a man who liked to stick to a schedule and take care of things. But on a Tuesday morning, he startled me by phoning in sick, which he didn’t do very often. While I was taking care of our three kids, I saw a bizarre statue on our porch that looked like Jack. I was astonished, and so were my kids.

Jack looked pale and disturbed when he came out of the home. He brought the statue inside without saying a word, and I followed him, demanding answers. He murmured something about taking care of it and told me to take the kids. I said yes, but I knew I wouldn’t let it go.

When we were leaving the house, my son Noah gave me a crumpled note that had been secreted under the statue. The note revealed a disturbing truth: Jack had been with a lady named Sally, who had made the statue and was now blackmailing him. I thought my world had been turned upside down.

I sent the kids to school and then met with Patricia, a divorce lawyer. I showed her the note, and she told me to get further proof. That night, I found emails on Jack’s laptop that showed he was guilty. I took a screenshot of them and sent them to myself. I also called Sally, and she said she would testify against Jack.

Sally showed the evidence in court, which proved that Jack had cheated. The judge gave me full custody of the kids and told Jack to pay Sally the $10,000 she wanted. Jack tried to say he was sorry as we left the courtroom, but I wouldn’t let him. I knew he had done this to himself, and I was determined to move on.

Now that the divorce was final, I was in charge of my life and my kids’ future. I recognized that I didn’t need Jack’s lies and tricks. I was eager to start over, free of the ashes of our broken marriage.
